Farm Animal Rescues

Meet Our Babies…

Willow is not a rescue, but she sure rescued us after losing our first Weimaraner, Roxy, in 2017. Willow comes from the same family where Roxy was born in Owyheestar, Idaho so they are like sisters born 15 years apart. Willow is a ball-crazy love, who is the protector of our little Farmstead.

Nigel was from a farm north of Hopkinsville KY. He was the last picked and also a bottle baby that required a little extra care. We had been wanting to get goats and we were seeking out baby Does when we saw that he was in need of a home. Although we would essentially have to wait for the Does to be old enough for adoption, we made the decision to go ahead and bring him home. We ended up not getting does because of the opportunity to take in Ivy & Bella Bean, so now the three of them are living their happily ever after on our farm. He is a Nigerian Dwarf and we named him Nigel from the character of one of our favorite movies. Can you guess what it is?

Bella Bean is a rescue that we took in the summer of 2022. A local rescue had taken in her mother (Ivy) from a family who could no longer care for her. Unbeknownst to them, she had gotten pregnant and one morning while feeding the herd, the owner saw two babies that weren’t there before. A few months later, we accepted Bella Bean and Ivy to our Farm. Want to know the meaning behind her name? Let us know & we’ll write a blog about it!

Meet Daisy, Daphne & Dori. We rescued these sweeties in 2021 from a family whose daughter brought them home from Tractor Supply without their permission. They were in bad shape. We found them by accident after searching for a small hutch to keep our chicks on Marketplace. When we went to buy it, they told us the story and we decided we couldn’t leave without them. Just a few weeks old, they adjusted perfectly to our farm family & they amuse us every single day. They love playing in their pool - join us over on Instagram where I share their daily follies. The “twins”, Daisy & Daphne are Khaki Campbells and Dori is an Indian Runner Duck.

Ivy came to us still in milk. She nursed Bella Bean until she was stable on hay and was a great mommy. We had originally wanted a Doe to milk but she was so skittish that I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. She is now a happy, friendly goat that loves forehead scratches and Graham Crackers! (You can see Bella’s twin Jack standing in the back.

Rooney is the King of the Castle. He protects our flock and has turned out to be a great alarm if anything goes array in the Barnyard. We brought Rooney to the Farm in 2021 from a family who didn’t want roosters.

Want To Sponsor an Animal?

With the rising cost of feed & care, we have decided to hold off on taking more animals in for the time being. Since moving here in 2020, the cost of feed, hay and medical care has doubled & tripled! If you feel drawn to one of these babies, you are welcome to sponsor them by donating to our Sanctuary. We also have an Amazon “Wish List” of items needed for their care. With your donation, we will add you to a private page where we will share up close and personal information about the animal you sponsor, as well as behind the scenes that are not shared publicly. Any amount or gift is much appreciated!
