This is the first thing I put into my body every morning

I’ve linked a few of my favorite ingredients below. Some are affiliate links, which simply means I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. These are all products I personally use in my own home and routines.

This is the first thing I put into my body every morning…

Before coffee
Before food
Before supplements

Just warmth, minerals, and intention.

I call it my morning mineral tea.

And while it may look simple… every ingredient has a purpose.

Let’s break it down.

Why warm water first?

Your body wakes up dehydrated.

Warm water is gentle. It wakes up digestion without shocking your system the way cold water can.

Think of it like slowly turning the lights on instead of flipping on something harsh.

It supports:

  • digestion

  • circulation

  • gentle detox pathways

  • lymphatic movement

Lemon (fresh pressed, not from concentrate)

Even though lemon tastes acidic, it actually has an alkalizing effect once inside the body.

This is important because many of us are living in a more acidic state (stress, processed foods, environmental toxins).

Lemon supports:

  • liver function

  • bile flow (which helps digest fats later)

  • gentle detoxification

  • vitamin C for the immune system

It’s like telling your liver, “hey… we’re awake now.” (I get my organic Lemon Juice from Azure Standard - It keeps in the refrigerator for a long time & I get so many uses out of it).

MCT oil (a small splash)

This is a quick, clean-burning fat your body can use right away.

Especially important if you’re fasting in the morning like I do.

It helps:

  • stabilize energy

  • support brain function

  • assist in absorbing fat-soluble nutrients later

  • gently signal metabolism to wake up

For me, as a vegetarian, adding in clean fats is really important for overall balance.

Sea salt (just a pinch)

This is one of the most overlooked pieces.

We wake up depleted… not just of water, but of minerals.

Good quality sea salt provides trace minerals that help:

  • hydrate your cells (not just flush water through)

  • support adrenal function

  • regulate fluid balance

  • improve nerve signaling

This is hydration on a deeper level.

Cayenne pepper (just a pinch)

This is your spark.

It gently stimulates:

  • circulation

  • metabolism

  • digestive fire

Cayenne Pepper helps move things… including your lymphatic fluid.

Let’s talk about your lymphatic system

Most people don’t realize this…

Your lymphatic system does not have a pump like your heart.

It depends on movement, hydration, and internal stimulation to flow properly.

When it becomes sluggish, you might notice:

  • puffiness

  • fatigue

  • brain fog

  • a feeling of “stuckness” in the body

This drink supports lymphatic movement by:

  • hydrating the system (warm water + minerals)

  • stimulating flow (cayenne + lemon)

  • supporting detox pathways (liver + digestion)

Then I follow it with movement… usually rebounding or walking… to physically move that lymph.

Self Care Tea

Optional Herbal Additions:

I listen to my body and rotate Ginger (warming, digestive support, anti-inflammatory), Raspberry Leaf (mineral-rich, supportive for women’s health), Dandelion root (liver and detox support).

Not every day… just when it feels right.

Our favorite herbs to use for teas when we can’t grow them on our farm are from Mountain Rose Herbs - So good!

Does it taste good?

Honestly?

Probably not at first.

This is something you develop a taste for over time.

I don’t drink it for the flavor.
I drink it because I know what it does for my body.

And I can feel the difference when I don’t.

A deeper layer of my routine

I like to fast in the morning, so this gives my body support without breaking that rhythm.

When I do eat, I take supplements that were specifically formulated for me after lab testing with a naturopath.

That alone changed everything for me.

I’ve learned I have the MTHFR gene mutation and EDS, which means my body needs very specific support to function well.

This routine is not random.

It’s intentional. It’s personal. It’s part of a much bigger healing journey.

My sacred morning moment

I drink this from a special cup and saucer my sister gave me with flowers, dragonflies & ladybugs. So special.

So it’s not just about the ingredients.

It’s about the pause.
The warmth.
The memory.
The ritual.

That matters just as much.

If you’re curious, I can also share my supplement shake recipe… it’s how I get in my minerals, protein, and collagen (yes, even as a vegetarian, I’ve found what works for my body).

Just let me know.
